How do I know when I’ve experienced good customer service? I feel good! (The opposite of bad customer service!) And that’s just how I felt today when I bought gas at Pommerville’s Alliance gas station in Lompoc, California. I used to live in this town and remembered Pommerville as a small, family run gas station. I thought they had closed years ago, but now I realize that they just changed flavors… Yeah! I pulled up to the pump and a happy young man asked me if he could help me with anything. I said no, I’ve got it, as I started to pump the gas… Then he asked if he could wash my window for me! Wow! I said sure! They actually had people outside trying to help the customers! I’m used to big stations with one overworked employee at the cash register, taking money. When I contrasted this to the gas station experiences that I am used to, I realized that here’s a SERVICE STATION, not a gas station!!! They’re providing good old fashioned SERVICE! I really feel comfortable with businesses that provide service first, and sell their products second. I’ll find a way to buy their products, just so I can enjoy their service! If you’re ever in Lompoc (near Vandenberg Air Force Base) stop by Pommerville’s on Highway 1 (which is the same as North H Street) and you’ll see what I mean!
